There were lots of inspiring articles on the web this month. Below are a few that appealed to me. Maybe you’ll find something that inspires you too.

INSPIRATION

“The Most Popular Post on Hungry for God — How to Know God’s Speaking to You” is a repost on Lori Hatcher’s Hungry for God blog, but it’s a topic we all deal with—I know I do. 

The Strong and Courageous posts on this blog this year have dealt with getting out of comfort zones to try something we…well, something we aren’t comfortable doing. So, of course, I found “2 Ways to Break Out of Your Comfort Zone” on Jennifer Rothschild’s blog to be amusing and inspiring.

“How to Write Truth With Grace” is a post found on the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference blog and aimed at writers. But it applies to anyone on any social media and something we all need to keep in mind when reading posts that make our blood boil.

Do you read romantic suspense? Besides historical romance, it’s one of my favorite genres. I’ve read Patricia Bradley’s books, so I enjoyed this Fresh Fiction Podcast interview with Patricia Bradley. Maybe you will too.

Are you a library power user? You’ll find out in “8 Signs You’re a Library Power User” on Book Riot.

I have Kristen Hogrefe’s first novel The Revisionist on my Kindle, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. Betty Thomason Owens’ review of the second in the series The Revolutionary makes me want to move it up on TBR list.

WRITING

There’s so much more we have to think about as writers in a public world. In “Writers Beware! Protect Yourself” on the Steve Laube blog, you’ll find tips for guarding your privacy, your identity, and your business.

In “The Power of the Review” on the Novel Academy blog, Dan Walsh provides tips on the why and how of adding a request for reviews to the back pages of your indie-produced book.

“Ask BHP: How Often Were Published Authors Rejected?” on the Bethany House blog is actually from the end of June, but it’s a good one if you’re struggling under a pile of rejections and looking for advice from those who’ve “made it.”

In my opinion, BookBub has one of the best (and slightly biased) blogs for author marketing. Evidently, they had spies at the latest RWA conference, but their “10 Top Book Marketing Takeaways from RWA 2018” has some great ideas to consider.
