High Five Friday!!
Writers have had another great month, which means lots of opportunities to enjoy their upcoming work. “High Five Friday!!” to the following:
Darlene Franklin has been asked to teach another online course for American Christian Fiction Writers members. Next March, she’ll teach Fearless Research. Since her mobility is limited, she’s delighted to have the opportunity to give back online. Also, Darlene has been asked to write a week of devotions for the magazine Devotions. They will appear in Fall 2015.
Sandra Robbins has two bits of good news to celebrate. Her book Shattered Identity won the coveted HOLT Medallion for the Short Contemporary Category, and her book Fatal Disclosure won the HOLT Medallion for the Short Inspirational Category. The HOLT is given by the Virginia Romance Writers of America Chapter in honor of their first elected president Cynthia Holt and stands for Honoring Outstanding Literary Talent. Both novels are from Love Inspired Suspense.
Katy Lee also celebrates receiving an Award of Merit in the HOLT Medallion Contest for Best First Book for her novel Real Virtue.
Janet Sketchley’s is excited to announce her debut novel, Heaven’s Prey, will release November 1 from Choose NOW Publishing. “A grieving woman is abducted by a dangerous offender—is it the answer to her prayers?”
Marilyn Turk is thankful for a number of recent writing projects. Two of her devotionals, “Second Best” and “Learning to Slow Down,” are included in Chicken Soup’s Devotional Stories for Wives releasing in September. Her article, “New Cutter Named for Lady of the Light,” appears in the July/August issue of Lighthouse Digest magazine, and she has a Christmas story coming out in a Guideposts book this fall (see the April 2013 High Five Friday!! post).
Maggie Brendan celebrates becoming a finalist in the Maggie Awards for her novel Twice Promised, the third book in The Blue Willow Brides series. The winners will be announced in October.
Julie Hilton Steele returned from the Romance Writers of America Conference with two requests for her World War II inspirational romance—one for the synopsis and one for the full manuscript. It was her first time to pitch a project, and she credits God for prodding her to do it. Besides her blog, Julie can be found on Facebook.
Kristen Stieffel got word that her women’s fiction novel is a finalist in the Florida Writers Association Royal Palm Literary Awards in the Inspirational Romance category. The winners will be announced at the FWA conference in Lake Mary, Florida, Oct. 18-20. Kristen will be teaching in the teen track at that conference as well. She says, “…it will be a great weekend no matter the outcome of the contest.”
Diane Tatum rejoices in finishing her new book, Colonial Dream, a Revolutionary War Christian Romance she’s spent quite a while writing. It’s the first book in a series.

Sandra – I love how you share exciting writerly news about writers/authors. It gives so many others hope and keeps us up-to-date with who’s doing what. I met Kristen in FL years ago, but didn’t know her book was a possible award-winning novel. Good for her! I’m not surprised. She’s an awesome writer. I’m sure the others are too.
I’m launching my debut novel, CACHE a PREDATOR, this week. It’s exciting and exhausting at the same time. http://amzn.to/19k5LPq
The five-star reviews are making me grin from ear to ear.
