In the Stack

Goodreads said I only read fourteen books this year, which tells me I need to keep up with my Goodreads page better. Much better! 

Today, I’m going to point out a few stories that may be of interest to you as you kick back in that week between Christmas and New Years. Some I’ve already read. Some are yet to be read. Some are Christmas stories. While they’re in no particular order, they’re all Christian fiction worthy of being in my stack.

For Fun:

Lately, I’ve read a few books for my own pleasure. 

Deadly Devotion by Sandra Orchard – This is the first book in her Port Aster Secrets series. This was one of those occasions when I’ve read out of order. You’ll find my review of Blind Trust here. I’m in the middle of Deadly Devotion and, so far, I like it better than the second book. Maybe if I’d read them IN ORDER …

Dangerous Passage by Lisa Harris – Again, another out of order book from her series Southern Crimes. I would recommend reading this series one, two, then three, but however you choose to do so, it’s worth it. You’ll find my review of Fatal Exchange here. The next book, Hidden Agenda, comes out shortly.

Christmas in the Rink by Dora Hiers – This is a fun Christmas novella to get you into a romantic mood for the holidays. Two people meeting again after several years apart and finding they still have that attraction for one another. Mmm … mmm … mmm.

Crashing into Christmas by Yvonne Lehman – Three short stories tied together into a Christmas novella that focuses on people involved in an automobile accident. This isn’t a romance, though it has romantic undercurrents. It is an interesting reminder that everyone has a story and one incident can bring people together.

Lake Surrender by Carol Grace Stratton – This is a (mostly) summer book that centers on a woman faced with finding her emotional and financial footing after a divorce. With a teenaged daughter (need I say more?), an autistic son, and a job loss, she has her hands full. The relationship dynamics make this story intriguing, especially toward the end. 

The Captive Maiden by Melanie Dickerson – I finished this Cinderella story last week. I like these different takes on the old fables, and have in my stack to read The Healer’s Apprentice, her first book. Yes, out of order again. 🙂

The Fruitcake Challenge by Carrie Fancett Pagels – This novella is part of the Christmas Traditions series by various authors. It’s a historical set in an 1890 Michigan logging camp. I’m intrigued by the blurb and looking forward to reading the book. Besides, I’m one of those who likes fruitcake!

Beyond All Dreams by Elizabeth Camden – Just got this one the other day. There’s not much better, reading-wise, than getting an envelope in the mail with an Elizabeth Camden story inside. I can’t wait to dig into this latest book by her. It releases in January.

At Home in Last Chance by Cathleen Armstrong – I missed the first book in this series, but you’ll find my review of One More Last Chance here. As I read the last book, I was anxious to read Kaitlyn’s story, so we’ll see if it lives up to my hopes.

One more recommendation (of course):

The Yuletide Angel by Sandra Ardoin – It’s on sale at the moment, so be sure to add it to your Christmas reads list (or someone else’s). 🙂
