June 2020 Around the Web
We’re typing “The End” to June. In light of the difficulties of this year, where are you in your goals for 2020? Are you pleased with your progress in life and writing? Are you behind, unable to contrate?
INSPIRATION:
I’d say there are probably areas in all our lives that need some restoration, so I found Candy Arrington’s post “Restoration – Moving Beyond Damage” to be encouraging.
Are you making the most of your time? I’ll admit, I’d need to say no to that on occasion (many occasions). Enjoy “YOLO? Well, Yes and No” by Rhonda Rhea on the Arise DAILY Devos blog.
READING:
Get to know author Dana R. Lynn and the way in which her day job impacts her writing through “When Two Worlds Combine” on the Seekerville blog.
Have you heard of Kimberly Duffy’s debut set in India, A Mosaic of Wings? Such a lovely cover! I enjoyed this interview on author Kelly Goshorn’s blog.
Why do you read fiction? What do you get out of it? Norma Gail, on her blog, gives her reasons for “Why I Read and Write Fiction – Confessions of a Bookworm“.
Writing is a never-ending learning process, so keep educating yourself. “Best Books on Writing Fiction” on Peter Rey’s blog will provide a few places to start.
One of the interesting aspects to writing in this era is the number of ways our work can find its way into a reader’s possession. Unfortunately, one of those ways is through a vanity press. “What Is Vanity Publishing?” on the ALLi blog boils down what to look for to be sure you’re not going through a vanity press.
Do you sometimes have a problem moving on with your WIP because you’re second-guessing everything? **raising my hand here** “Eyes Front” (post and comments) on The Kill Zone will give you a system to get you going.
I’d say we all want our stories to resonate with readers, to impact them in some way. I was so taken with “Writing a Story that Resonates” by Cindy Sproles on the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference blog that I pasted it in a note on my desktop.
An FYI:
